The CODATU XVI conference was organised by CODATU (a French association working to further sustainable urban transport in developing countries and emerging economies) in partnership with İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi (İTÜ) from the 2 to 5 February 2015 in Istanbul (Turkey). The conference gathered some 400 decision makers and experts on urban mobility. It featured a political symposium to make urban transport a major field of action on mitigating climate change, and a scientific conference to increase awareness about the contribution of urban transport to climate change and present solutions.
On 5th February 2015, the final SOLUTIONS workshop for the Mediterranean region built upon the outcomes of the three local workshops that took place in Turkey, Morocco and Israel where the main needs, gaps and priorities of the participating Mediterranean cities were identified and assessed. These were validated and finalized and policy recommendations fostering the successful implementation of solutions meeting the identified needs will be formulated.
SOLUTIONS offered basic capacity-building activities for professionals from the participating cities and the target regions. Three training sessions were offered:
Peter Mock, ICCT
Christophe Rizet & Laetitia Dablanc, IFSTTAR, France
Bernard Gyergyay, Rupprecht Consult, Germany
